AADA Conference 2012 in Brisbane
29 May - 1 June

"Whole people for the whole journey."

Location: Diocese of Brisbane Parishes of Chermside and Stafford

The Deacons of the Brisbane Diocese look forward to welcoming Deacons, Deaconesses and Diaconal students from right across Australia and New Zealand. It is a wonderful opportunity to share our diaconal journeys and our experiences. It is our aim with the conference theme to promote looking after our selves so that we can care for others. Diaconal Issues will be addressed through facilitated discussion groups.

In an endeavour to keep costs to a minimum the organising committee have chosen to use local parish facilities and will arrange for delegates to be billeted in private homes. Should anyone not be comfortable with this arrangement we can arrange to book motel accommodation close by. This accommodation would have to be at your own cost.

All Saints Anglican Church at 501 Hamilton Rd Chermside will be the venue on the Tuesday and Wednesday. While on Thursday, St Clements on the Hill Eudunda Street Stafford will be our venue. On the Friday we will travel to the city to tour our newly completed Cathedral, to have one of our facilitated discussions, to share in the 12.30pm Eucharist and to conclude with lunch.

It is intended to begin our conference at 2.00pm on Tuesday 29 May. At 4.00pm there will be a formal AADA meeting conducted by our president Archdeacon Anne Ranse. We do need to address some issues that will require a change in our constitution. Anne requests all Diocesan representatives or diaconate convenors to submit a report to her three weeks prior to the conference. The conference will formally conclude after the lunch on the Friday. This information concerning the start and finish of the conference is to assist you with your arrival and departure times.

We will endeavour to assist with transport on arrival and departure. Gold Coast Deacons have offered hospitality to anyone who may want to stay on after the conference. Should you have difficulties arranging a suitable arrival and departure time then we may be able to extend hospitality. Please contact me by email gaynye@optusnet.com.au or phone 07 3263 2822 after hours to discuss any difficulties.

We look forward to welcoming you to Brisbane.
The Rev'd Gay Nye
Leader of the Household of Deacons
